Sherri Barden Phamacist
Meet our Founder, Sherri Barden B.Pharm. FANZCAP (Comm. Pharm/Resp). MPS

Sherri Barden is a highly experienced community pharmacist and asthma educator with over three decades of experience in retail pharmacy. Based in Echuca-Moama, where she lives with her husband and three sons, Sherri has dedicated her career to raising awareness and improving care for respiratory conditions both locally and across Australia. Her deep expertise in managing chronic respiratory conditions and commitment to patient outcomes have established her as a respected leader in the field.

A graduate of Monash University, Sherri began her career with an internship at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne in 1997, where she developed a strong foundation in paediatric care. During her time at the Children’s Hospital, Sherri observed the prevalence and significant impact of atopic conditions, like asthma and eczema, on children and their families. This experience deepened Sherri’s focus on respiratory medicine and reinforced her commitment to providing ongoing support for those affected by chronic health conditions.  Sherri’s passion for respiratory medicine led her to complete an asthma education course at the Alfred Hospital's Lung Health Promotion Centre in 2017.

Since then, she has dedicated herself to improving the lives of individuals affected by allergies and respiratory conditions in her local community and has actively participated in research trials with the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research.  Sherri currently serves as a team leader on the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia’s (PSA) Respiratory Task Force and Respiratory Clinical Special Interest Group (CSI). Through her leadership in these roles, she plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of respiratory care provided by pharmacists across the nation.

Sherri’s dedication to her community pharmacy work was instrumental in Moama Village Pharmacy being recognized as a finalist in the 2020 Pharmacy Guild Pharmacy of the Year awards. Recently, her expertise and longstanding contributions to the field of respiratory medicine were further honoured with the awarding of FANZCAP status (Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy).

Having grown up in a farming family, Sherri is deeply passionate about accessible healthcare and the vital role pharmacists play in supporting the health needs of country people living in regional communities. Sherri continues to work part-time at Moama Village Pharmacy, where she applies her specialized knowledge to benefit her local community. The rest of her time is devoted to educating pharmacists and pharmacy staff across Australia, both in-person and virtually.

Through her work with APLUS Pharmacy, Sherri is at the forefront of advancing pharmacy practice by deepening the understanding of atopic allergy conditions. APLUS Pharmacy’s training programs empower pharmacies across Australia to manage complex health issues like asthma, eczema, and hay fever more effectively, and empower pharmacists to become leaders in patient care within their own communities.
